Ace has posted (colorfully) about a fake Ranger who made a career off his lie and has now been exposed.
That sort of thing isn't uncommon. You'll find fake Rangers, Green Berets, Seals, Medal of Honor recipients, POWs, and MI. There are also people who are dedicated to exposing them. In the case of the MOH, the FBI is on the case, as it's a serious offense.
Over at Wannabes, they keep track of and help investigate suspicious people claiming to be Rangers. You'll find links there to other wannabe-buster sites. It's a fun place.
Home of the Heroes has a page on how to spot a phony Medal of Honor recipient and what to do about it.
BTW, I've run into several phonies claiming to have been in Military Intelligence. I can tell they're fakers because they claim to have done something exciting. Man, that's a dead give-away.
