RIP Florida Seabees

Sunday was a bad day for Florida. We lost seven Seabees from a Jacksonville unit.

God bless all the white-hatted dudes and thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

my grandma is scared now. her uncle was a sea bee in WW2, and he had all kinds of stories to tell. and come july, i'm supposed to be transferring to a battalion up in groton. so, she's flown off the handle about why i can't just stay here on the boat and finish out my time.

The Navy must not look so safe to her now.
My dad was career Navy. You're not staying in?

I couldn't ru-ru for the Army either. Five years was enough. Too much time spent being cold. It's tough when you're from S. Florida.

i reckon it'll be that way with me up in CT. we don't get much snow in arklahoma.

but i look on the bright side...when i switch my statehood and start racking up all the free tuition they hand out to vets up there, i'll be making out like a bandit. and i'll 'shiver me timbers' off for a free ride any day.
