Hate crime hoaxer Kerri Dunn is going to trial for filing a false police report and insurance fraud. The FBI has still not filed charges against her.
Prosecutors Tuesday called one of those two witnesses to testify at Dunn's preliminary hearing.
Dominique Zepeda testified that she and a friend were sitting in a parked car around 8 p.m. March 9 when Dunn pulled up next to them in a car already sprayed with graffiti.
Zepeda said she saw the professor exit the car and walk toward the front tire.
"I seen her lean forward toward the tire and then we heard air come out,' Zepeda testified.
Zepeda said she watched Dunn repeat the ritual, apparently flattening all four of her own tires, before she and her friend decided they would be best served by getting away from the woman.
But Dunn stopped them as they started to drive off, identified herself by name and as a professor, and asked if they saw what had happened to her car, Zepeda testified.
She said they told Dunn they saw nothing and then quickly departed.
"We didn't know what to do,' Zepeda testified. "We just wanted to get out of there.'
Zepeda said she reported what she saw March 10 after she learned of the attention the incident generated.
