Blogs of War has all the latest info on the Israeli spy in the Secretary of Defense's office.
Spying on us in time of war? If true, this one needs to hang.
UPDATE:
Comments like this are ridiculous and I hope I don't see many more like them:
For Goodness SAke... The whole world is against Israel... and if Hillary Clinton gets back in the whitehouse or others like her they will embrace Arafat again..
Israel MUST HAVE as many spies as they can.. It should be overlooked by us, especially us who understand their perdicument.....
I think everybody that is capable of it spies on us all the time. I think we spy on everybody else all the time. Nations, after all, don't have friends and enemies, but interests. The world is a horrible, nasty place, epecially outside this country.
Posted by: robin at August 28, 2004 05:55 PMI spied on the Soviet army for a living. I have some small bit of knowledge of what we do.
Nobody gets to spy on us without being punished. If a guy takes classified papers and gives them to another country, that's espionage.
If I'd taken papers and given them to any country, allied or not, I'd have been imprisoned for a long time.
Nobody would have said "Ah, what the hell, everybody does it."
Right?
You're correct Donnah. What I should have said was that I'm not surprised that Israel, or anybody else, is spying on us. Should I be?
Posted by: robin at August 28, 2004 06:47 PMNo, I agree with you on that.
I'm just seeing a lot of people making excuses for the spy. That disturbs me.
I suspect a lot of that is ignorance, not that that's an excuse. Most folks, me included, probably can't begin to appreciate what goes on in that world, or what the stakes are.
Posted by: robin at August 28, 2004 07:01 PMI just can't believe Israel would go along with such distrust. Yeah, they know we're the only folks in the universe who think they have a right to exist, but why betray us? That's all spying is.
Posted by: ArklahomBoy at August 28, 2004 09:36 PMIf this 'tard did it, I hope he's nailed to the wall.
It looks like he approached them to give them a special heads up on stuff.
I could have done some approaching too. I didn't because that would have been a BAD THING. And I didn't want to.
It's interesting watching various folk spin this. I like England and Israel both very much. I'd be willing to give either of them a kidney, even, but at the end of the night, I go home with Uncle Sam. Ha.
Posted by: Donnah at August 28, 2004 10:10 PMAwhile ago somewhere far far away I mentioned how two Israelis were found driving around a nuclear power plant. Their dark brown skin and foreign speech tipped off someone to check into them. They turned out to be Israelis and no questions asked.
If something really important blew up in the United States would anyone ever for a minute think of blaiming Israel or one of the extremist Israeli groups in thier own country?
And who would stand to gain the most should America believe they need to next attack Iran or Syria?
Just a thought from an old Ludlam reader.
Posted by: IXLNXS at August 30, 2004 07:01 PMYou have a link for that?
I like Israel very much. I just don't care for people putting any other country on a par with us.
