Back before there was The Allman Brothers, there was a band called the Hourglass. This is their LA psychodelic phase. Duane's in the middle with the ruffled shirt, and the nutty-looking one on the end in the cape is baby brother. The other fellows got off the road and went into record producing.
Wail on, Skydog!
I love the B.B. King Medly from Anthology. It's hard to believe record execs didn't realize what a one-two punch they had in Duane and Gregg.

Posted by: Paul at September 8, 2004 08:10 AMIt must be a bass player thing, Paulie. That's Paul Hornsby- he was a bass player too.
Robin- that whole stint in LA was laughable. They didn't know what to do with the band. They did want Gregg, though. And sadly, some of the playing on those records is not Duane at all, but an uncredited Pete Carr. Duane would be too in the bag.

Posted by: Carl at September 8, 2004 06:31 PMI think it was a Cream phase. Luckily while he was out there, he learned how to play slide.
