Just ask Teresa:
While lashing out at President George W. Bush’s handling of the war in Iraq during a speech in McAllen, Teresa Heinz Kerry, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, said her husband will seek out all other options before sending servicemen and servicewomen to fight in a war
"John will never send a boy or girl in a uniform anywhere in the world because of our need and greed for oil," Heinz Kerry told the audience gathered Sunday at the McAllen Civic Center.
They've got "Liability Teresa" on a short leash, but it's not short enough. She may only be allowed to speak to small groups of party faithful, but if there's a reporter there, we're still going to hear about whatever foolish thing she said that day.
She also spoke out against outsourcing, making no mention of her own company's doing so.
Meanwhile, her more nuanced half was here in town with Jesse "Shakedown" Jackson and Al Sharpton, telling a group of black churchgoers he's "got their back" a la Vietnam. Then he grooved out on some gospel music, because he was in his element as the potential second black president:
At Friendship Baptist, where worshipers waved Kerry-Edwards fans, the candidate appeared loose during his speech, but looked a little stiff when he bobbed his head to gospel songs like Praise Him.
He made no mention to them of terrorism being a nuisance like prostitution or gambling, and evidently the defense of the United States against terrorists lies with "the man who walks with a jaunty step."
