The Grind

Vacation is over, and I'm back at work since yesterday.
Homelife is full of dog drama at the moment, what with the new addition, and I'm glad to have some relief from the election.
The News-Press called to do a follow-up on Lilly, for coverage of when the former owner goes to court.
When we were out for a walk, a girl in an SUV drove past, turned around, got out of her truck, and offered assistance for my presumably injured dog. I didn't know what to say, and the words "naturally crippled" came out of my mouth, along with "thank you" and "sorry". I'll have a better response next time. This is a upscale area, with lots of well-coiffed foofoo dogs. I may well have the only partially paralyzed three-legger in town. Maybe Lilly could do with a big bowl of stem cells.

Just tell 'em what happened, Donnah. An abbreviated version, like "She was abused before I got her X weeks-months-years ago," if you don't have time to talk. You should be proud of yourself for giving Miss Lilly a home--it takes a special person to do what you've done, most especially with a big dog. And I know you're proud of her for surviving with spirit intact her horrible life before you. Spread it around! I'll take a reality hound over a foo-foo dog any day.

Off-topic: I voted with the first wave of Floridians this morning. No problems with the electronic voting machines, and I was impressed with the security measures in place to guard against fraud. I've voted at the same precinct for 20 years, and they've always asked for my picture I.D....but this time they seemed to really be paying attention. Or maybe it's just that I was. Anyway, I struck my blow against moonbat liberalism and for Dubya. Now all that's left for me to do is to bite my nails down to the quick for the rest of the day until the results are finally in. ;-)

You could make a up a new story every time. "She pulled me from a burning car wreck in the 'glades, and her leg got mangled by an alligator..."

"Reality hound". That's awesome, Amy. That's exactly what she is.

James, there was a three-legged boxer dog in my neighborhood when I was growing up who really did lose his leg to a gator.

She's asleep under my computer table and is running. Shiloh has lots of dreams where she's wagging and eating something. I want Lilly to start having those dreams too.
