I pray for God for bless, guide and protect our country on this important day.
It cracks me up when I read of people from either party saying if the other guy wins, they're moving. They all need to go out and buy some perspective. Me, I ain't going nowhere. Presidents come and go- this is my home forever.
BTW, I have a ten-spot riding on Dubya's winning, and I plan to collect.
Posted by floridacracker at November 2, 2004 10:25 AMWell said! :)
Posted by: pam at November 2, 2004 10:28 AMThe problem is NOT that they say they'll move if their guy looses. The problem is that they DON'T move when it happens.
That means you, Baldwin.
Posted by: James at November 2, 2004 11:15 AMI might be tempted to move if Kerry wins. I spent 2 of the years of the Clinton admin outside of the US. Enjoyed it, too.
Posted by: Kathy K at November 2, 2004 06:55 PMI wouldn't move for Kerry. I could see myself moving for another Clinton admin.
Big problem is that I have no idea where I'd go. Canada's a nice place to visit but they're pretty whacked out too.
Keep those fingers crossed, D.
(Praying that the Buckeyes and the Sunshine State deliver)
Posted by: sonofnixon at November 2, 2004 08:06 PMIt probably makes very little difference to your life, compared to something like having an affair or moving house. If we didn't watch TV we'd hardly even be aware of who was in Washington.
Pangloss asked him what was the name of the mufti who was lately strangled.
"I do not know," answered the good old man; "I never knew the name of any mufti, or vizier. What you just said means absolutely nothing to me; I presume that in general people involved in public affairs sometimes come to a sticky end; and that they deserve it: but I never inquire what is doing at Constantinople; I am content to send thither the produce of my garden, which I cultivate with my own hands." (From Candide.)
Posted by: Harry Hutton at November 2, 2004 09:09 PMI've got two big ones on it, and it's looking good. Florida appears to have done the right thing this time, even under the threat of domestic critter consumption.
Posted by: Paul at November 2, 2004 09:41 PMYeah, Florida's looking good so far.
Harry, I'm a French major and had quite a thing back in the day for Voltaire and his hideux sourire. Those days are long gone.
Some Presidents do make a very personal impact. My mom still starts crying when she talks of FDR's death.
Posted by: Donnah at November 2, 2004 10:19 PMI have the following bets:
- 2 $50 bets that Bush wins popular vote by 5% or more
- 1 $50 bet that he takes 48 states or better
(okay, the last was stupid, but that was made back in those long-ago times in January when we were all laughing at Howard Dean)
