Not everyone in Crackerville is pleased with the election. Mr. Cracker finds the re-election quite distressing and even waved his hands about when discussing it. For him, that's the equivalent of getting a rifle and climbing a tower.
The one thing we could agree on is that if the Democrats want to win, they need to field a moderate Southerner. He says he doesn't understand why they didn't do that this time, and gets very upset with talk of Hillary running in '08, because there's no way she's going to win.
Bring us the genuine article, and a lot of us will vote for him. Drag a New England liberal across the trail, and he'll be ignored. As Governor Schwartzenegger puts it, "Let's be honest."
What were they thinking?
Posted by floridacracker at November 4, 2004 08:39 PMSo give Zell Miller some youth serum and run him. He's the only Demo I know of that I would vote for. Used to we had people like Nunn in the Demo party. Now we have none.
Graham, Nelson? Please - they've sold their souls to the devil of abortion on demand and gay special rights. Name a moderate demo. He'd be a far left republican. It's a shame.
Posted by: David Wilson at November 4, 2004 10:17 PMAren't they grooming the Silky Pony for the job? ;)
Is there no unknown governor out there who meets the criteria?
Demo govs dropped like flies (ooh I almost went down a Dan Rather mode - must be arterial plaque) this election - are there any left?
name a demo moderate...................
uh huh.
I think Zell is right, they really don't get it and are willfull in that course of action.
Posted by: David Wilson at November 5, 2004 12:46 AMBob Graham.
He'd win Florida, for sure.
That's one of the main reasons I voted for Bush. Find me a moderate Demo I can get behind? Like Zell Miller? You betcha. But until they do some serious housecleaning, and stop pandering to every special interest victim out there...no. I'll be voting a conservative ticket.
Posted by: sheila rene at November 5, 2004 09:39 AMHas Mr. Cracker read the piece by Jane Smiley in Slate.com today? I would really like to see how much he agrees with.
Posted by: Hercules at November 5, 2004 12:07 PMYou mean, does he think I'm a greedy moron? I don't know. I'll ask. ;)
Posted by: Donnah at November 5, 2004 12:13 PMSorry, David, I didn't see that you'd already mentioned Graham.
He's quite popular here. He'll always be "Governor Bob".
I don't know the Dems from other states. Surely there's a better candidate than Silky Pony?
I don't know much about this subject, but the Demos wouldn't do too bad turning to the governor of Virginia, Mark Warner. He's a businessman who made his millions through work. He's run a fairly moderate administration. 'Course, he's originally from Connecticut, and talks like it, but he's probably learned to eat grits since being down here.
