FEMA officials predict a busy week ahead as expected claims pour in from Miami-Dade residents seeking Asian tsunami disaster relief.
"We've been inundated with calls from Miami about tsunami-damaged cars, televisions, and large kitchen appliances," said the head FEMA inspector for Southeast Florida. "The sooner we can get checks in the hands of the victims, the sooner they can begin to rebuild their lives."
Sure am glad we're not getting the government we're paying for!

Posted by: pam at January 3, 2005 09:53 AMI'm from Wisconsin, can you send me a application?
Posted by: Merl at January 4, 2005 09:20 AMI think I got a little collateral damage here in East Tennessee from Frances. Do you think Michael Brown and FEMA will funnel a little dough my way? *wink*
Posted by: Fain at January 4, 2005 12:22 PMWhat? Hurricane-related graft and fraud in Miami? Excuse me while I faint in shock.
Still, you'd think FEMA would have learned. I tell you, government agencies will employ anybody. "Hey Carl, here's a claim that says that soo-nammy thing over in China made this lady's toaster short out." "Here, let me see that... Oh, the claim is from Miami -- just send her a check." To think I moved away to Central Florida years ago. I need a new toaster.
