There can be so much drama in being a waiter. This fellow handles it well and writes about it beautifully.
I would say that his restaurant really needs the enlivening presence of a public Xerox machine- the shrieks and curses of those incapable of figuring out how to use it would add ambiance; but that vision, I suppose, is from my own special hell.
Posted by floridacracker at February 18, 2005 03:02 PMI think there is a certain percentage of the public that is barking mad (no offense intended to Lilly), and that they let it out on the first convenient person they find. It does make you want to take them out to the alley and thrash them, though, and sometimes I've wondered if this wouldn't work a lot better than counselling.
Posted by: MaxedOutMama at February 18, 2005 04:13 PMIn Tallahassee, the whole library was ringing with this lady's curses as she tried to make a copy at the Xerox machine. What a scene. The librarian walked over and hit the button, the copy was made, and the lady shut up.
It was a ridiculous spectacle. It also seems that the older I get, the more people I see totally showing their ass in public.
