A bill that would help Terri Schiavo has passed in the U.S. House. One in the Senate is supposed to be debated today. Her case would be moved in Federal jurisdiction and possibly head to the Supreme Court.
In Florida, our legislators have hit a roadblock with their efforts to hammer out some law that will stand the test of constitutionality.
Also, according to one source, DCF has bowed out the case, but I've seen nothing about it in the news, only that DCF is appealing the judge's refusal to let them investigate.
Tomorrow's the day, so hopefully to God things will be set in place in time.
UPDATE:
Think you're full of knowledge on Terri Schiavo's situation? There's always room for WuzzaDem.
FWIW, Donnah, I thought I'd tell you that "Florida Cracker" has educated me like nothing else on this issue. My understanding of the Terri Schiavo situation was vague prior to reading your posts and links. The problem was that I'm ambivalent about what I would want done if I was in Terri's situation. My wife and I have both signed living wills, and she has made it perfectly clear she would not want to live if she became like Terri or if she had a degenerative condition like Lou Gehrig's disease. I'm no longer certain -- took out our living wills the other day and discussed them in light of things I've learned.
My wife and my preferences for ourselves are, of course, beside the point with Terri. You've opened my eyes to the details of her situation that the MSM doesn't highlight. And if they start starving her tomorrow, I'm going to feel it. Just thought I'd let you know.

Some of us out of the local loop don't know what DCF stands for. Please
spell it out on first use in each post. Thanks.
And thanks for all your good work and energy,

Posted by: m at March 17, 2005 06:28 PMM, I do believe my address requires the removal of the word "AT" for it to work.
DCF is the Department of Children and Families- the agency that Michael Schiavo's lawyer swore was doing them mischief at the behest of Governor Bush.
Yep, the "at" was the problem: I just clicked it and went with it.
Thanks for the pointer.
And for the spelling out of the acronym.
Fast service, here!
Posted by: m at March 17, 2005 06:40 PMYou guys are the biggest bunch of hypocrites. You cream "states rights" but run to the Feds whenever the states do something you don't like. You scream "activist judges" until they make a decision in your favor. You wail about "protecting the sanctitity of marriage" until a husband makes a decision on behalf of his wife that you don't agree with. Why don't you just be honest and admit that you don't care about law, rights or process, you just want everyone to do what you want.
Posted by: zen_less at March 17, 2005 08:06 PMTell it to the Innocence Project.
From your tenor, I'll ask you why you don't just be honest and admit you hate everybody who doesn't think just like you.

Good to see that the university system is still encouraging civil discourse and an open exchange of ideas.
