Back In The Courts

All of those who are so desperately worried about the judicial branch being slighted in the Terri Schiavo case should be happy to know it's back in the hands of a judge- Judge James Whittemore. What he'll do with it is anybody's guess.

Serial killers get one bite at the Federal apple, surely an innocent woman can be allowed a nibble.

Meanwhile, a victim's rights group has filed a formal request with Attorney General Gonzalez to investigate whether Terri has been abused as covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

UPDATE:
Statement of the President:

Today, I signed into law a bill that will allow Federal courts to hear a claim by or on behalf of Terri Schiavo for violation of her rights relating to the withholding or withdrawal of food, fluids, or medical treatment necessary to sustain her life. In cases like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. This presumption is especially critical for those like Terri Schiavo who live at the mercy of others. I appreciate the bipartisan action by the Members of Congress to pass this bill. I will continue to stand on the side of those defending life for all Americans, including those with disabilities.

Thank you, Mr. President, and thank you to all the Congressmen and women who voted for Terri's being able to have Federal redress.

Yes I have been following the story of Terri and you know no one especially you should be able to even make a judgement in this case unless you have had to experience it. I have been in nursing for many years and I have taken care of people in this condition with the feeding tubes. It is horrid to keep people alive this way unless there is any hope after 15 years I think not. Her parents should just deal with the fact that she died 15 years ago and let her be with our father in heaven. The way she is right now is not dignified and is totally wrong.

If Terry wanted to die she would have already.

You can will yourself to die!

I watched my Dad do it after they put a feeding tube in him at his non wishes. My Mother insisted and within 8 monthys he was dead. He wanted to die! It was horrible to see.

I think she wants to live and her parents and her family must see that. I see it. I think the world may witness a miracle after she can have proper care, nourishment and therapy. We have to allow her that opportunity. Her husband does not even want to try.

Remember the will to die! She has not chose to use that! Obviously.

Why especially me, Bobbi?

Yes, yes, the Schindlers should just eat shit and die. Doesn't look like they're planning on doing that, though.

Stay out of the neonatal ICU while you're at it, Nurse Bobbi. Too many undignified sick babies there in need of a little nudge into the Great Beyond.

Nurse Bobbi lives under a rock.

Excuse me, Bobbi, but we the general public should not be lectured by people from the medical profession, who tend to develop rather strange conceptions on life and the (lack of) value thereof.

Mind, always regarding OTHER people's lives, of course.

What does anyone know of the actual preferences on the issue of life and death of the individual Terri Schiavo is today?

Can you be certain she doesn't enjoy, in whatever primitive way, the care and love and attention of her parents?

And if she doesn't, because she really has become a mere vegetable, then why should you care about what happens to it? The vegetable, by definition, doesn't suffer from continuing to live.

Michael Schiavo and his goons (that sorry excuse for a lawyer and judge Greer) are like a gang of bullies who enjoy crushing the pet insect of a weak classmate.

Like the President says, one must be on the side of life. Being on the other side is insane ("Death! Death! Death! Hurrah!")

The pro-death Rats are out in force!

It's amazing how many claim to be medical professionals. It could make a person very afraid of hospitals and the trolls that roam the halls!

There are either some very strange, demented and alarmingly ill-informed doctors and nurse out there, or a whole lot of trolls who claim to be 'medical professionals'.

I think it's a combination, but mostly the latter.

Donald, you're lucky eugenics was out of fashion when you hit pre-school.
I hear Corky charges reasonable prices for language tutoring. Give him a ring.
