Jaeesha's having a hissy and she doesn't like to be cuffed.
I salute all our educators.
Posted by floridacracker at April 21, 2005 10:26 PMSad that a five year old would need restraints (handcuffs while in the police car after her hissy fit was thrown) but it's necessary to protect her and others from her should she at some other impulsive moment -- in the car, not in the car -- without further having to "touch" the child (since "touch" is now discouraged).
Pretty gruesome story. Hope the child gets the counselling she so much needs and requires.

"should she at some future time...have another outburst..."
There's a previous tape too, of before they got her into the office. They had to empty the whole classroom. Of course the mom is going to sue because the kid got cuffed. I watched this a few times and I can't see that they had a lot of options left, except to let the kid continue to tear up the office until the mother finally arrived. This had already gone on for a really long time.
Yeah, Jaeesha needs some help.
It's sad that the assistant principal has to have everything videotaped, but i'm glad she did, because as was said above you know the lawsuits would be flying.
