Here's Duane working on his slide during the Aretha Franklin sessions.
Wail on, Skydog!

The music seemed so pure back then. Nobody was using it to sell cars.

I remember being so surprised when the Stones had their tour sponsored by Budweiser, or whatever beer company that was. Now you wouldn't think twice about it.

This pic was taken in Muscle Shoals. I know the session was broken off because of some fight between the producer and Aretha Franklin's husband. They finally resumed recording, but up in New York. I don't think Duane worked on that part of it.

Kinda OT: I saw Gregg on Carson Daly the other night. He actually looked good! His hair was a healthy looking gray instead of lank, limp tow-head, and his beard was well-trimmed. He's filled out so his skin isn't hanging off his face in Bassett-like folds, and the color of said skin is other than its usual hue that resembles nothing so much as a sick oyster. Prosperous, tidy, and content-looking, he was.

Wonders never cease, huh? I'm glad.

Supposedly, he's been clean for some years now. I don't know if I believe it or not, but some people that live near him in Savannah see him involved in healthy pursuits for a change.
I know he sang "Don't ask me to be Mr. Clean; I don't know how," but maybe he was finally able to pull his head out his ass.
Oh, and he keeps his dogs with him on the road.
