It's pretty disappointing to find out that the heretofore unnamed cad that Carly Simon was singing about in "You're So Vain" is just some FBI guy I've never heard of.
I was so sure it was Mick Jagger or Warren Beatty.
I always thought it was Hal Holbrook.
Posted by: James at June 2, 2005 12:27 AMYeah, there's the school of thought that it was Hal, especially since Mark Twain was famous for his vanity ("He wants to be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral") and Hal was famous for playing Twain on stage for decades. I didn't buy it, though.
