9-11 Widow Pisses Away $5 Million

Kathy Trant was given $5 million by friends, strangers, and the government because they felt bad that her husband was killed. In four years she managed to fritter it all away, calling it "blood money."
Now she's back to warn us of the dangers of overspending.

She's still very, very sad about losing her husband, but she's dragged herself away from the rollerblading court she had installed at her home to warn us all that money doesn't grow on trees.
The article writer kindly notes that overspending is a "chronic problem among Americans," so Kathy Trant's $5 million-dollar bender really isn't so out of the ordinary.

Maybe it isn't for Keith Richards. I think it would be considered very out of the ordinary by most Americans.
It's her money and she can spend it as she likes -- just don't lecture about wasting a largesse that most of us can only dream of. And don't ask for any money.

"Trant is down to her last $500,000."

Half a mill and the equity in a multimillion dollar house? I could invest that for a living, eezy-peezy. Well, maybe not a living that continues to build indoor squash courts.

Boo-fuckin'-hoo.

She's about ready for a VH1 show.

"The Faaaa-bulous Life of a 9-11 Widow"

I wouldn't put it past VH-1. Whenever I see those ostentatious celebrity wealth spending shows, with the sycophantic scumbag "celebrity experts" gawking in wide-eyed, enthusiastic wonder and admiration at the $75,000 that J-Lo spent for a salsa and seaweed colonic, I get pretty friggin' annoyed.

But then I change the channel and I'm almost all better.

Followed by one where she assists that Flock of Seagulls guy on his paper route.

Damn, sounds like she could be my ex-Plaintiff #2.

Bless her heart!

She knew how to spend it up, did she, Oej?

Anybody got a violin I can borrow? After reading this heart breaking story, I have this overwhelming need (NEED I tell you!) to play a sad song.

Sheesh!

She's rattling her cup is all she's doing.

I actually heard them talking about this dumbass on Howard Stern during my drive into work today and did a search on her when I got to the office. Yeah I totally feel for her and her family regarding the loss of their husband/father, but come on...."I had to get rid of the blood money". How f'ing stupid can you be? She should be sent away somewhere far far away. Think of the impact that her wreckless spending is having on her kids. I mean what the F is she teaching them?

....my 2 cents....

Please don't judge Kathy Trant. She has been to hell and back. So she spent this money on whatever - big deal. She isn't entirely homeless and her children are safe and well. I say Good Luck Kathy and what a great woman you are to go public with this story. Don't beat yourself up on this. You didn't steal anything from anyone. Money doesn't buy happiness as we all know and you can't take it with you so what.

Oh you are kidding right Kathleen?

Please take a minute to read what she spent the money on. She is NOT a great woman, and frankly, has shamed the memory of her husband and the rest of those who died in the towers. She COULD have set up college funds for underprivileged kids, or purchased land for a monument, something other than the $500K on Italian designer shoes. How disgusting.

Anyway, Florida Cracker - I linked to you from my article, thanks!

It wasn't just her money. That award represented the future earnings of her husband plus something for grief. The stupid woman should have put away the 100k included for each of her children in college funds furst, then she can blow the rest of it. She not only squandered her share, but her children's futures as well.

I just watched an interview with Kathy Trant on MSN Vide and most of you have the facts wrong, but have arrived at the correct conclusion. She says she has only squandered $500,000, and the rest was invested in realestate, ect.
However, after hearing her pathetic excuses and explainations for her spending behavior, it's obvious she is too stupid to live. She hasn't learned anything from the 911 attacks. The kind of attitude and mentality exibited by Kathy Trant is exactly why the rest of the world hates us so much.
She shames herself, her husband (and the rest of the 911 victims), and our country.
Shame on you Kathy! You should consider investing some of the money you have left on a college education for yourself and try to be part of the solution instead of being the "poster child" of the problem.

Between this, the waste of the Southeast Asian tsunami relief funds, and the decades of money being poured down the rathole of Africa, I'm just about to stop donating to anything that doesn't involve scantily clad teenagers washing my car.

Ridiculous story. I knew her husband and I can say without hesitation this would make him sick. Dan was a great great guy and to have his wife acting this way is terrible

I was once a friend of hers. If you only knew the truth, She did this because she is a very narcistic person who wants to be famous and is impressed with hollywood. Did anyone say Amarosa? She spends the money to say she has the same things as Paris Hilton etc.
She loved to tell people how much money she spent on things. She is very manipulative and calculating in her actions. She gets off on the drama. No one's life is harder then hers, she wants you to think. Her coming foward backfired on her. She lost all her friends, then contacted the NYpost, thinking everyone would feel sorry for her. Now you will see she is tryng to do damage control. She craves attention she makes everybody sick and to say I don't have the will to live!!! Her kids should not be subjected to read that. Besides she's really too in love with herself to kill herself!!! IF she's not trying to cash in again. I'm so glad to see that no- body was fooled by her. Her husband would be disgusted by this behavior and I am mortified for her kids. Signed, someone who knows

I feel for other families of victims of 9/11 - the ones who truly ache and hurt for their loss, that take care of their kids, that reach out to help others, and that try to ease their pain by doing good and giving to causes or people who are truly in need...not paying for someone's breast implants.
