Gitmo And The Appearance Of Evil

Although I don't think there have been any improprieties commited toward the prisoners at Gitmo, I do believe having them there is a liability and has been so from the beginning. I've felt uncomfortable about it from day one.
Build a place for them at Fort Chaffee or some other post here in the States.
Lock them up here. It worked well enough for our Nazi POWs.

Cracker,

Don't you see the beauty of holding the prisoners at Gitmo? The Justice Department has no jurisdiction there. Therefore, the ACLU, Dick Durbin and their ilk can scream all they want. There is nothing they are anyone else can do about it. You bring them here. Hell, the shysters will line up for miles to represent them and tie up the Federal Courts for years. And what if some Federal judge sets them free? Within our borders? Naw, keep em right where they are at.

I understand what you're saying, Ray. It's just something I've always felt funny about.
We've always had enemies and always will. I prefer we lock them up stateside, like we've always done.

The German POWs are still coming back to visit their old camps here. I'm very proud of that.

Yeah, it would be great to have a U.S. locale, a focal point, where a few hundred thousand could gather every weekend to whip up "out of Iraq" sentiment with the grateful cooperation of the MSM. How many of the network anchors do you think would decide to do their nightly broadcasts from the location?

It was, perhaps, a little different in WWII, when Democrats actually supported the national policy and Republicans didn't cynically approach the war as chiefly an opportunity for political advantage?

Yep, I understand that too, Levans. Perhaps this is the best solution.
That being said- I'd still rather we have them in the States. I don't even mind if it's in Florida.

This isn't anything big on my list. It's just something that bugged me from way back.

I felt for Senator Martinez, because I was thinking the same thing.
