"I thought I had heard and seen every vile, disgusting crime scene, but was in for a new shock when I started this investigation," [Detective William Howard of the Kansas City Police Department] would say later...

Posted by floridacracker at June 18, 2005 08:05 AMI didn't even have to access the link, since I recognized that fateful quote from reading it the other day (via Yahoo News, I think it was).
It truly is just about the most gruesome thing I.have.ever.read.or.heard. If I was that policeman, I think I'd consider an early retirement and a lot of time silently by a lake somewhere with no crowds.
Sad, sad, horrible story about a completely raving lunatic who was previously wandering around in society without a.n.y...restraint. If they ever let this guy out of jail (the 'offender', not the Policeman [poor guy]), the world will be, well, at an end.
I don't even know how police can deal with the stuff they do. I'd lose my mind for sure.
Posted by: Donnah at June 19, 2005 12:50 AMI am glad that I found this entry of yours, well after we returned from P. F. Chang's on our last night in California, rather than right before going there.
This is disgusting news.
Posted by: Aakash at June 19, 2005 04:59 AMSometimes the headline is the toughest part of the post. ;)
I'd seen some reports, S., but none with this much detail.
Donnah, I just haven't the heart or stomach to read your link. No criticism of you, but after what I read on Yahoo (I still think that's where I saw this a few days ago), I think I've read enough. It seems that hell is right here on Earth, doesn't it?
Posted by: -S- at June 19, 2005 10:40 AMNot click my links? How can I agree to that????
Posted by: Donnah at June 19, 2005 10:44 AMWell, this link, at least. I'm just not going to go read it... but I sure do understand the story. My sympathies for that officer; I don't know how they maintain when having to deal with things like this. Or this, specifically.
