Hurricane Rita

Broward County is all shut down due to Rita. She's a Cat 1 and will be passing over the Keys soon, hopefully not doing too much damage. It's when she hits the warm water of the Gulf that the fun will really begin.
Only two and a half months left to go until the end of hurricane season.

UPDATE
She's now a Cat 2.

As usual, I will be checking in with you for the most reliable hurricane links. If you pick up any really new or interesting hurricane blogger, please let us know. You had some very good links last time.

I guess you're not going to get much wind or rain from Rita...?

I don't know about that, Baron. I've not exactly been in a blogging mood lately.

We're getting a lot of rain. The wind gusts were strong last night, but the wind field has narrowed since.

Rita should be over the Keys mid-afternoon.

Yup. Bush is targeting the gay community with this one. There won't be a hair salon or disco left in the Keys by the time Rita gets through with them.

Well, Donnah, if you happen to find any juicy hurricane tidbits you can always toss 'em our way...

BTW, I found something last night you might enjoy. If you don't want to go over to Gates of Vienna (the post is at http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2005/09/strawberry-shortcake-does-jihad.html), you might want to just look at the original picture, which is here: http://www.hilalplaza.com/ProductImages/media/ABCCD10011.gif

I told Dymphna that it seemed like I was channeling Florida Cracker when I wrote the post...
