Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

Duane burned his candle at both ends. When he wasn't touring with his own band, he'd go do shows with Delaney and Bonnie.
Those are some groovy hotpants and snakeskin boots you got there, Bonnie.
Wail on, Skydog!

Duane Allman unplugged? I can't recall ever hearing him on an acoustic guitar.

I think this is from a radio appearance that they did together, probably the song "Come on into my kitchen"

As far as acoustic, the best Duane acoustic is a duet with Clapton on Dobro called "Mean old World". my fav anyway.

Never heard Duane play acoustic? What about "Little Martha" or "Please Be With Me?" Skydog sure had a quiet side to complement the electric.

Carl, did you slap your forehead with the mention of "Little Martha"?

Yeah, and Duane does a truly intense acoustic on "Trouble No More." Fabulous, although that word completely does no service to his acoustic performance on that title: intense, forceful, determined. "Little Martha" is his finest but "Trouble No More" acoustic is completely dedicated. Finest there was.

''Trouble No More'' acoustic???? I know there's some rhythm acoustic on the studio version, but, even though I'm a Duane freak, it's nothing special. Maybe there's a version I'm not familiar with.

His bottleneck runs on ''Rolling Stone'', ''Don't Tell Me Your Troubles'' and ''Waiting For a Train'' are also brilliant.

YO, you need to listen to the remastered version.

Because Duane's acoustic work on "Trouble No More" is like a freight train. Or perhaps a tank: relentless. I am surprised that someone of his age at that performance had such force in such an otherwise easily overlooked acoustic rhythm guitar.

Of course "Little Martha" & "Plz Be With Me", but one of my all-time faves is the medley he does on Delaney & Bonnie Big Hits, "Come On In My Kitchen/Mama, He Treats Your Daughter Mean/GDTRd Feelin' Bad" . He did all of the aforementioned on his old Dobro...

Yep, no doubt about it, Duane Allman was a musical genius. Truly a remarkable talent and all that and never even thirty.
