I Got The Power

I really am a lucky gal:

95% of Broward still without power

Florida Power & Light reports that as of 9 a.m., 839,200 customers, or 95 percent, are still without power in Broward.

So far, 23,600 customers have had their power restored, FPL reports.

If anyone deserves to have electricity, it's me. If those other people would straighten up and fly right, they could have nice things too.

Dear lucky gal,
My Mom lives in a trailer park in Okeechobee (Heritage Village). Do you know how hard they were hit by Wilma?
Thanks!

I'm sorry, I don't, Diane. I don't see anything in the news, either. A trailer park is never a good place to be for a hurricane. Surely she went to a shelter?

Donnah,

Lucky you to have power. We have none in Lantana, I'm writing from a friend who does in Atlantis. My sisterinlaw lost power both in Miramar and at her work at Miami Jackson Hosp.

Physically we're fine. Our roof has some damage, not catastrophic. We lost a fence. I count ourselves lucky. Our church both its rectory and social hall lost most of its roof.

Don't I know we're lucky. People are sending letters of appreciation to Weston City Hall for their choice of going with the more expensive buried cable.

Everybody's fences are down. We got ours propped up, but part of the neighbors is still hanging through the screen on our patio. Mr. Cracker said not to bother them about it; it's probably something they'll get to this weekend.

North Broward got the most damage, with Pompano getting the worst of all.

I hope you get your power back soon. You want to come down for a hot shower and some lunch? Let me know.
