Here's Wayne's rockin' links:
*Via the Fat Guy, Varifrank brings us the Patrick J. Buchanan Memorial Library for Failed Prophets of Doom.
*Via Coalition of the Swilling, a college caves in to complaints about an art exhibit that had a crucifix in urine suspended over the head of a painting of the Virgin Mary smeared in feces. Not really. It was a photo exhibit of Muslim women wearing veils.
*V the K puts up a "lost" poster for Clifford: the Big Red Dog.
*Jessica doesn't think the sun shines out of your kid's butt.
*Via Attaboy, obnoxious cell phone behavior has been taken to a new level.
Posted by floridacracker at November 11, 2005 11:58 PMMan, Wayne Cochran was terrific! I remember moving to Georgia from Germany in 1966 and seeing him on TV. (My dad was in the military.) I was used to the usual British Invasion garbage, and here was a white guy singing and dancing like James Brown.
BTW, no new Duane shows, but I do have the 9/23/70 on DVD, if you need it. :)
Posted by: Brian at November 12, 2005 06:58 AMHello Wayne Cochran fans: Eat your hearts out- In 66 and 67 I lived and worked on Miami Beach. My shift began at 3AM, giving me every night "out on the town". Wayne was the "House Band" at the Peppermint Lounge on the 79th street causeway. All the hot chicks were flocking there, so I went primarily to "pick up chicks", but found myself as interested in Waynes music as in the "chicks". He and I were even in the same building during a minimal Hurricane on the Beachfront, and swapped liquor and refreshments during the party. Great Musician, and about as good a movie extra as I in "Birds Do It", "The Happening", "Tony Rome" and more.
