*Why did the prosecution of Sami Al-Arian fail? Apparently, it was all too complicated for jurors to follow. Next time the jury gets Cliff Notes.

*"There's Someone For Everybody":
In this Hallmark Classic, a grossly psychotic man pursues the object of his affection. Something heartwarming for the Holidays.

*Dorothy Parker reviews a blog:
"Blinking ads spackled together with poop."
The gal had a way with words.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Hey, I keep voting for the Cracker on that Awards poll, but gosh darn it's hard to make headway; I smell a rat... Nice endorsement by Ace though; same from Bill?..

Nope, no mention from Bill.

I thought I was your only blog, Carl. Was it all a lie?

Posted by: Donnah at December 9, 2005 09:17 PM

Only what you turned me on to, Donnah.
You know what? When I first "discovered" blogs, Instapundit and A Sullivan were " the man" [ no pun intended re Andrew]. Roger Simon was way back in the pack. So was Ace. Roger used to ponder about where this would all lead and how he could capitalize on it. I emailed him and he emailed me re ideas. I basically told him to just hang in there and wait and watch; that opportunities would come. They did but I think the PM crowd got caught up in group think or something; I do not like their site.
Remember [and do not forget which as a southerner you know is not the same thing] that you are a pioneer in a totaly NEW and very powerful medium. And that you are good at what you're doing. You've been around for a coon's age[in blog time] and this "tier" is nothing to sneeze at. I'll keep voting each day, and so will your other fans [won't you?].
Coming here is like a trip back to my childhood as my dad would load us all into the wagon ( 4 boys, plus Mom!) and we would spend two (2!) weekes driving thru the highways and byways of Florida. My dad was stationed ther during the War (guarding prisoners) and you should have heard his fish stories, especially about Tarpon Springs, Ft Meyers, Goodland, JAX, Apalachicola, the 10,000 islands, Marco (during the 40's)the keys ( Islamorada and Marathon, not Key West, though it was still ok in his day). And I remember Weekeewachi Springs, Silver Springs, Homasassa Springs, St. Augustine, Daytona in the 50's, the Jax beach Pier, even Miami was still cool when I was a kid. Gotta go, Mama just honked the grocery horn...

I seem to recall seeing your blog on the list of nominees. That makes you one of the pod people, doesn't it?

Larry, I don't even read any of the finalist humor-blogs, so it's just another category I skip. You're not in there, so what's the point?

Posted by: Donnah at December 10, 2005 01:17 AM

Well, thanks, Carl. That's really sweet.
It's funny that Roger Simon was looking for a way to make it pay from the beginning. I guess he would, as a professional writer.
