Gnat Encounters Sledgehammers

Shoplifter William Beltran had outrun mall security and two deputies. Then he heard "Stop! U.S. Marines!"
Imagining his feeling of hopelessness, I almost feel sorry for the guy.

(With video.)

**UPDATE**
Nightfly has composed a song for Private Pitts and PFC Ailant. That tune sounds familiar...

Semper Fi! I hope these boys are rewarded in some way. Of course to a Marine, the chase was probably reward enough.

That's almost too funny, especially right here at Christmas time, but well done gentlemen!

Why do these people think they can get away with shoplifting? I mean they know they're going to get caught sooner or later, don't they? Of course he (Beltran) had gotten away with it before, so I guess stupidity reigns and he thought he'd try it again. All I can say is (sung to the tune of Frosty the snowman) Stupidity Dumb Dumb, Stupidity Dumb Dumb, shoplifting's not for you, Stupidity Dumb Dumb, Stupidity Dumb Dumb, singin' the jailhouse blues! :) :)

"It's a thing we learned in bootcamp: you do what's right, no matter what."
More of these guys in the world, please.

Correction: More MEN in the world like this. Marines are never just "guys."

Love the Marines, love these two of them. Wonderful story...gotta love their confidence, which is well earned.

Reminds me of a purse-snatching event while I was in college. Some fool grabbed a bag and ran... as he turned the corner, he ran straight into the school's Crew Team.

When I passsed by the crowd surrounding the team (who surrounded the thief), he was laying face down ... not beaten, but no longer running either. When he tried to roll over, a rather large team member politely said 'If you need help keeping your face down, I'll be happy to step on your neck, if you'd prefer!'.
