Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

hourglassanotherduanelace450.jpg
Another pic of Duane and the Hourglass in what I like to call "the Lace Session".
If only these were in color.
Wail on, Skydog!

UPDATE:
A little taste of the color possibilities:

'I got to get away....'

I swear I saw Keith Moon wearing Gregg's pants
in Jax...

Oh my goodness, if that were in color...

My baby wears bell bottomed britches, uh huh. I believe that is a "puffy shirt" prototype Gregg has on.

Well I'll be Dat-blamed...

Duane playin a Strat with a doily around his neck...AND Gregg with NO Hammond B-3, no Leslie...

it woulda been real hard to milk 'Dreams' out of that crowd, no doubt..

oh well..Les Brers in Am

Owen- lighten the hell up. The clothes are silly, not the people. Except Gregg.

Computer crash at office and home computer limitations precluded today's viewing... Dang!

I've mailed them to you, Carl.

Hot damn!!
An Allman Bros (brother) fan!
Hey, believe it or not, I sing their tunes better than Gregg, even in their Fillmore days.
Too bad that rock is dead, especially Southern Rock.
Nobody left to run with anymore.

Thanks for a great pic, Donnah. I haven't seen many of the Hourglass days. As for Duane playing Strats, uh, check the Layla sessions. Also a couple of tracks with Clarence Carter.

Uncle Jefe says..

"An Allman Bros (brother) fan!"

i dont think she's all THAT keen on 'baby brother'..

besides, I'm trying to get a job as Donnah's new
idolizer..so LAY DOWN !

btw brother.. don't get mad...I just HAVE to do this..(see above) but I'm not so sure that singing
better than Gregg is THAT impressive..j/k j/k

now, Multi-Colored lady wasn't too bad, but the real trick would be not getting lost in all those Sun Model-t's..and not sound like you're screaming. Sometimes I feel....

mike collins was right, Duane did play better than John Fogerty.

"...As for Duane playing Strats, uh, check the Layla sessions..."

Duane didn't play NO STRAT on the Layla sessions!
"Eric's playin' the Fender (Strat), I'm playin' the Gibson (Les Paul)..." -DA quote

As for John Fogarty, no offense to him, but about a thousand + play better than him.

hey everyone

just discovered this site about a week ago, and since then i've been browsing through all the Duane pics. Quite amazing!! i didnt know there were so many...

and Uncle Jefe, its really a matter of taste whether or not you sing better than Gregg. Heck, i cant really think of anyone else singing in that perfect southern drawl...

oh and btw

i have to write an essay for my english class about anything, and i figure im going to do something about the Allman bros band or maybe just on duane.

any suggestions as to how i might start, where to focus, etc.

thanks in advance for any help

I would write about Duane's shirts and hairstyles, but that's just me. ;)

Posted by: Donnah at February 22, 2006 01:21 AM

aw jeez...haircuts and britches...cmon..

if you wrote one on Duane, it would be about a guy
that was never quite aware of how good he was...
nevr held a gold record..until his demise.

but had he suddenly had an awakening, and realized
he was 'hot property' and started 'preserving' himself, like Gregg did when he turned states evidence...
maybe he wouldn't be so much of a legend.

I would title it:
Mean Ol World; Why the Best Slide Player Ever Never Made it To 30

oh and I was 15 when i thought Fogerty was da bomb..at least I could figure his chords out...lol
