Cute As Speckled Pups

32 years ago the cameras were rolling as a pair of homely diabolical geniuses went forth to conquer the world armed with catchy pop and their irresistibly adorable wives.

Oh, click it. It set a historical standard for cuteness unmatched to this day.

UPDATE:
Seriously, it'd do your flinty little heart good to watch it.

UPDATE II:
An amusing parody video by French and Saunders of "The Winner Takes It All."
C'est la vie, c'est la vie. C'est good for you, c'est bad for me...

Armed, too, with shiny blue pants. Can't forget the shiny blue pants.

Much as I want to, I can't forget the shiny blue pants.

Good Lord, Donnah.

Did they even speak English, or was it just language-aped like when Slim Whitman used to sing "Una Paloma Blanca[aaaa-ahhhhh!]" on that K-Tel records video back in 1970, as seen on the SuperStation (Channel 17 up here)?

And how about that spikey lead guitar?

Oh and we thought those outfits were outlandish!
Thanks for a giggle and going back in time to when I was in high school!

Aaah! My eyes! My ears!

LOL. The men spoke English very well and wrote all the ABBA songs.
As well as they did here in America, we were always considered a very tough and disappointing market for them. People must have been totally ape for them in other countries.
This particular song went nowhere here, but the next one caught our ear--"SOS". That one was far too catchy to be ignored.

Lord help me, Carl, but I went and looked up some background. That guy had that guitar made special for the competition. It's in the shape of a star and was hopefully going to give them some luck so they could win.

I had Mr. Cracker sit down and watch it the other night, and he was smiling throughout. Cute, cute, cute.
