Posted by: Owen Crosby at March 1, 2006 12:08 PMyay for wednesdays! Wail on, Donnah!
Posted by: richard at March 1, 2006 12:11 PMOne suggestion is that the guitar was Jerry Garcia's.
Posted by: Donnah at March 1, 2006 12:24 PMGreg did have good taste in tie dye.Wish I could find some like his now...
Posted by: Carl in Atlanta at March 1, 2006 12:57 PMFreudian slip or are you just cruisin', Carl?
Posted by: Donnah at March 1, 2006 01:29 PMYeah, that Did come out a little "brokeback", didn't it?
No, it's not for me. My kid is into the "the 60's" (actually the early 70's) look, and I keep trying to find some decent faded or at least muted tie die T's for him. All I can find is either logo'ed to death (as on the g dead's site) or so garishly / commercially bright (everywhere else I've seen) that no one posin' as an "authentic" hippie would be caught dead wearing it.
It can't be bright & it looks best if faded.
A lost art?
Posted by: Carl in Atlanta at March 1, 2006 01:49 PMWe used to make them in a washtub out in the backyard.
They looked like hell-- like a rainbow vomited.
that's the best description of the tie dye afterglow that i have heard yet. like the rainbow vomited. i'm SO glad to be the cusp of the boomers sometimes!
Posted by: richard at March 1, 2006 02:40 PMso does anybody know who that guy is playing with him ?? I know it is unimportant...just curious.
Posted by: Owen Crosby at March 1, 2006 08:16 PMYou kidding? That's Dickey, who else?
Posted by: Donnah at March 1, 2006 08:44 PMno im not kidding..guess im just a Duane fan...
sure doesnt look like him, and Ive seen him up close..oh well, I'll blame it on old age.
Jerry Garcia had a black 56 Les Paul. Could this be it?
Posted by: Willard at March 2, 2006 10:07 AMi got some pretty sweet tie dies. Bought them in Brazil... still got some real hippies there. and i got a pair of pants that look a lot like Dickey's shirt...
