Dominance Games

As always, Dade and Broward think they can control the whole state:

A South Florida senator has reignited the nearly two decade-old battle to declare key lime pie as Florida's official state pie, but the Senate president's mouth isn't watering over the idea.
...
Two Broward lawmakers -- former state Reps. Norm Ostrau and Debbie Wasserman Schultz -- made previous attempts in the 1980s and 1990s to add key lime pie to the long list of state symbols, which include a state tree (sabal palm), state fruit (orange), state beverage (orange juice) and even a litter control symbol. Both went down after strong opposition from the supporters of pecan pie and sweet potato pie - popular desserts in North Florida.

Key Lime pie or Democratic presidential candidates--they're always trying to shove one or the other down the conservative populace's throat.

And as always the more popular of the two will overcome the tastebuds.

I suppose I should mention that my aunt has 5 acres of pecan tree's and blueberry plants that produce some of the best pecan pie and cobbler supplies in N FL. :p

I guess you could say I'm prejudiced.

So..if Georgia has the Pee-can pie as its state
pie, its off limits. I agree with the guy (didnt
get his name) this morning on tv, it shouldn't be key lime...how bout Lemon meringue ? yum..

your Aunts place sounds like a yum place, Gmac.

Oh Jesus. First Miracle Whip, now pecan pie? Sweet potato?

Key Lime pie is the best pie - aside from chocolate cream pie - in existence. Get over it.

What means the "key" in key lime pie?

Dry Bones
Israel's Political Comic Strip Since 1973

Back from watching Divinyls, Bill? Hmmm?

It should be pecan pie. Absolutely. It's the reason God invented Karo syrup. I've never even tasted Key Lime pie.
We used to collect the pecans off the ground in Tallahassee for our snacks. They sustained me and Mr. Cracker during our penurious college days.

I'd be dead of starvation if not for North Florida pecans.

Yaakov- "Key" refers to the Florida Keys, the little islands off the tip of Florida.

I just love food-talk. That's why there's so much
unrest in Vermont..maple syrup and Howard Dean, no wonder.

We didn't know that Aunt Jemima wasn't really maple syrup until last year. We were eating our pancakes and I looked at the label...why, it's just flavored Karo.

Mr. Cracker went out and got some real maple syrup for us and we were so disappointed when we tried it. It's so thin and non-syrupy.

Ya, the sugar buzz from the *real* stuff just doesn't cut it, but the flavor is gold comparativly speaking.

Kinda like *real* homemade blueberry cobbler or pecan pie. ;P
