Wail on, Skydog!
I dont think he's meditating, but I could be wrong..
Ah, now my Wednesday is complete. Thanks Donnah !
No, he really is meditating. He's chanting his mantra, "OMsowasted. OMsowasted."
Posted by: Donnah at March 15, 2006 07:20 AMThat's a Schlitz beer. I'm so disappointed; I always figured he was a PBR man...
Posted by: Carl in Atlanta at March 15, 2006 09:46 AMYou can tell what brand of beer that is, Carl? LOL.
I do recognize the Kools.
And is that an 8-track tape and early 1970's-vintage portable 8 track player? If that's not a joint in his left hand, I'd say he's listening to that tape and playing air guitar....
Posted by: Carl in Atlanta at March 15, 2006 10:03 AMI was wondering what that was, but I don't recall *ever* seeing a portable 8-track. We had a portable reel-to-reel. Heh.
It looks to me like he's conducting, but I'm guessing that yes, that's an unlit j in his right hand, although it could just be a ciggie.
However, I think that left hand might be reaching out to intercept the joint going past him...
I don't know what those several square things on the bed on, but 8-tracks were rectangular.
Posted by: Donnah at March 15, 2006 10:11 AMone square thingy is an ashtray *smoking in bed is dangerous*, I might add..and that is an infamous
leather cased 'cassette' player/recorder, rather
sophisticated for the time...sorta like an Ipod/Archos portable would be now I would say..
Ya know, he might be 'listening to the tune' playing
back..oh wait, the door is open on the player...
Nope ! He's meditating.
Posted by: Owen Crosby at March 15, 2006 10:58 AMI should have looked again the tape is in the player
but most of those didn't run with door open (again, more danger in the area) I think he's looking
down to see if he knocked the fire off his Kool.
ROTFL. It does look like he's checking to see if knocked the fire off his Kool.
I don't know why I couldn't figure out the ashtray.
Early cassette player. Interesting.
Posted by: Donnah at March 15, 2006 11:23 AMyeah, and those are probably cassettes laying there.
you can see the bobbins in the center of the tape..
a caption might read "Ummm, is..mmm"
Actually, it is pretty obvious Duane Allman was
obssessed with that special sound his antique Les Paul gave off with a Coricidan bottle and 100 watts
RMS pumped through 4 10" speaker cabinets..come to think of it, I like it, too.
I like to start my day with it !
One might surmise that if he 'hit the scene' today, he would get lost in the tangled web of
'studio magic' and might have a 64 bit 24 track
portable proccessor laying on the bed..
I don't think so, you can't get the sound he was
obssessed with that way.
