Don't You Know Who I Am?

What's the big deal about Georgia Representative Cynthia McKinney punching a cop on her way into her workplace? I had the same thing happen to me. Arriving at work, I tried to go through the security point without my badge. Despite my having worked there for years, the officer stopped me and wouldn't let me though. So I screamed and hit him. Or maybe I just waited there until a co-worker with a badge came up and vouched for me. One or the other.
Either way, I was miffed at the officer for not doing his job and recognizing me. OK, maybe his job wasn't to recognize people, but rather to make sure people going through the gate were wearing a badge. Whatever.

UPDATE:
Ace and Allah are keeping up on current events. Ace's list of charges against McKinney are excellent.

Just let me add that, like McKinney, I too am "absolutely sick and tired of having to have my appearance...validated by white people." Just wave me through checkpoints based not on my appearance but by... wait, recognize my appearance and then let me through the... no, letting me through would be validating my... Look, it's very simple: just don't look at me. Ignore me as I go through checkpoints. Well, don't ignore me. Even if you don't know me, say, "Good morning, Miss Cracker" as I whisk myself badgeless and unchecked through the gates. Is that so hard?

Oh sure. Next you'll be bringing up Jimmy Carter....
Hasn't Georgia wallowed in enough shame yet?

Btw, http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/03/31/D8GMPKR81.html
A lawyer for Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the Georgia congresswoman who had an altercation with a Capitol Police officer, says she was "just a victim of being in Congress while black."

There's a reason why they say there are two Georgias.

I hate being cynical, but I'm sure she's going to get away with this.

Check out what the Capitol Police website has to say about the role it's officers play on Capitol Hill:

http://www.uscapitolpolice.gov/home.html

"Wear the badge. Feel the honor." (Feel the wrath and fists of deranged moonbat, Cynthia McKinney)

"The moment of transformation… when you slip into the uniform… put on the badge… and join our elite ranks, you’ll feel it. This is the moment you truly become a part of the dedication, the pride, and the legacy that makes the United States Capitol Police a force like no other."

"...like no other." Yep, anywhere else they would have tasered her butt for that move. When did it become OK to punch a cop? She should have been arrested on the spot. Now she'll "defend" her actions by playing the race card.

The site has info on their salary - not sure if they get extra for getting assaulted by members of Congress they sometimes die to protect. Two Capitol Policemen died in July 1998 when they tried to stop an individual when he tried to walk around the metal detector.

There's more interesting stuff about violence in the Captiol Building if you scroll down to the lower parts of this page:

I hope the officer presses charges, files a civil suit and that the courts find in favor of the policeman. The Representative should spend time in jail, serve probation, do community service and go to anger management classes. Its unlikely she'll do any of those things because she'll turn this into a race issue but if that doesn't work, she could have a convincing case based on an insanity defense.

what gripes me (besides ALL that other stuff) is
that entourage, the press conference..the whole thing is paid for by rich, elite, white taxpayers.

Talk about a dog that you shouldn't feed...

Go Gators..!!!

Meh, I had a fairly 'toasty' piece I was gonna shoot up here last night about her but my senses prevailed and I didn't.

I think that as the drama unfolds this bigot is going to play every card she can to weezil out of this and in the end the officer will quietly decline to press charges.

Fortunately the damage control policies she used to rely on have changed. Her helpful allies cannot just make this 'go away' like the other times because there's a new sheriff in town and the blogsphere doen't play those games for that 'homie'.

The 'press conference' replete with all her supporters was quite the show. I'd say just stand back and watch as she digs deeper.
