Twists And Turns

What to make of no player's DNA being a match in the Duke lacrosse team rape case? And the woman's DNA not being found in the room where she said she was gang-raped? Hmm, quite a puzzler, that one.
It's almost like this case has been ripped from the scripts of Law & Order. I hope the stripper has the excellent Shambala Green for her attorney.

UPDATE:
Ah, the boys claim to have taken tons of time-stamped pictures showing the stripper arriving at the party already scratched and a whole lot of non-rape going on. *THUNK THUNK*

All kidding aside, maybe this was her Marabar caves. I'd prefer to think her mind spun up an attack rather than that she made a conscious choice to damage other people's lives.

We'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out.

something sure didn't seem *ok*...lessee,

A hired stripper has a date, with a LaCrosse team..but afterwards, she thinks they raped her ?
Actually, I don't think I really want to know how this pans out. I have enough to think about without
carrying her (and the team's) issues around also.
She should try catering..

I thought she was?

Well, after days of protests, and cries of racism and lynching, there being no DNA caught my attention.

Oh, I dunno, I would have thought the media would give these guys a chance before burning them on the stake. Anyway, I don’t watch the mainstream media for news, for the same reason I don’t wipe my ass with hot peppers or chew on glass.

LOL@MMQ.

Here's a nice editorial from the Macon paper:
"There's an ethics lesson that almost certainly has gone unlearned at Duke University. An exotic dancer has charged that she was dragged into a bathroom and raped and sodomized by three lacross team members at a bachelor party two weeks ago.

There is little doubt that the assault took place.
...
The rape, possibly racially motivated since the victim is black and she identified her assailants as white, has drawn protests from students and Durham, N.C., community members decrying sexual violence. The 47 members of the lacrosse team, with the exception of three team captains who initially discussed the incident but have refused further police interviews, have consistently refused to talk with police on advice from their attorney.

We aren't suggesting anyone violate his Fifth Amendment rights against self incrimination, but there certainly is something amiss when students who must have witnessed the crime side with the criminals rather than the victim. This is where the team, which has been suspended while the investigation is under way, gets an "F" in ethics and morality.

One can only conclude that these students have failed to learn the importance of acting in a socially and legally responsible manner."

"...before we get our asses handed to us by MISS SHAMBALA GREEN!"

Wellllllllllll.... something about the law stating "Innocent until proven guilty" came to mind but when it's a sex crime against a woman, add that she's 'of color' and using the Cynthia McKinney offence by crying 'racism'... I think that the only thing missing here is a branch and the rope.

Watched the Prosecutor state that "...the case is not going away..." just now, on campus, with him running for re-election and using this case on the stump by speaking about it, possibly may add a political angle to an already racially charged aura.

I smell another 'Tawana Brawley' scenario is unfolding before us with the prosecutor standing in for Al.

I suppose the final question though would be "Who gives the people damaged by this their reputations back?" and "If the charges are false will the perpetrator(s) be prosecuted as vigorously?"

So, no DNA in the room . . . no DNA in/on the victim (and this with not one but THREE sources), even with condoms someone had to sweat, spit, shed hair, something not to mention leaving lube . . .scratched up on arrival . . .

How long until the civil suit?

That question rises from an alternate theory of the crime:

Stripper shows up in bad frame of mind (had a bad day), gets into pissing contest with the Lacrosse team, gets called some bad names, and decides to kill two birds with one stone. She can scream rape and stick it to the rich white boys, and put the squeeze on people with much deeper pockets than the thug(s) that actually worked her over (and who may even be dangerous to finger).

I heard the prosecutor's "it's not going away" statement. When I read it I asked myself if he is up for reelection - good call it seems.

As to the players clamming up:

A few people have noted that hte presumtion of innocence seems to have gotten lost in this case (it has). I would also point out that there is also a right to remain silent, and when the police start collecting samples from the whole team, even those who were provably out of town that day, it is time to shut the hell up and call your lawyer because you are not a witness anymore; YOU ARE A SUSPECT! As such you must never forget that the nice policeman is NOT really here to help you no matter what he says, he is here to pin this on somebody, and at the moment you look good. And when he is backed up by a prosecutor looking for votes, you are in very deep s#$%, especially in a case like this one.

This case ws bad to begin with, and now just plain stinks, and the investigation/prosecution is even worse that the "facts" of the case. Some mebers of the team left before the stripper arrived. SOme were out of town, sitting in job interviews with major businesses in Manhatten at the time of the alleged rape. Yet the whole team was sampled. The only black plaer wasn't because she said the suspects were white. But she also said the suspects were in the room with her, and somone in Manhatten obviously could not have been, but they were sampled anyway because they are white.

Builds my faith in blind justice.
