A Day Without Cracker

I had an unwelcome visitor in my kitchen yesterday. It was Donald Sensing pissing in my Cornflakes. Saying individual blogs are a thing of the past (except for Instapundit, mwah), he's heading off for a group blog. As a parting gift, he was thoughtful enough to leave everybody a new reading list.

I don't follow many group blogs for a reason: almost every one I've read has bored the flaming dog crap out of me. I then put that flaming dog crap on that blog's front porch, ring the doorbell and run.

Actually, I just click away. Usually they're either bland (just like some individual blogs), lunatic fringe (just like some individual blogs), or there's a voice in there that's too Yma Sumac for me to bear (just like some individual blogs). Like Goldilocks, I've got to have things just right.

Granted, more posters does mean more posts. Sometimes, though, that just equals more crap -- witness that string of Eagles hits.

So, in the main, blogging Mormon Tabernacle Choir collectives aren't for me. As you can tell from my blogroll - barring a great duet - I like listening to an interesting solo sung by a unique voice.

And I prefer mine to have a twang.

Sensing found the right calling -- first he was an artillery officer and now he's a preacher...he knows how to shoot off his mouth...though condescension usually means you're aiming *down* so he's shot himself in the foot more than once.

When Amy Jacobsen's story about being terrified while on a flight with 15 Arab men who were acting reaaal strange first came out, he was most un-Christian in his remarks about her story. Made me lose respect for his opinion. That was in April last year:

And when she came out with her book in September she had a lot of other passengers to back her up on her story. I've since talked to a few flight attendants who've said the same thing: flying has become scary business.

So Donald Sensing says more than his prayers...

I shouldn't have let it bother me so much; he's not the first pundit to pontificate. But as he was stepping outside the tent, he turned around and took a piss back inside it on everyone else. What a jerk.

In 2003 I complained that I couldn't find very many female bloggers. Now I think the critical mass is favoring estrogen, and the guys are jumping ship because they can't take it.

Estrogen? Critical mass? Sounds like absolutely the wrong time to leave to me. I love catfights.

[ducking]

[Thanks, Donnah]

Norma -- come on over to Gates of Vienna and see my post today on chick-blogging. It's quite offensive! I hope Donnah saw it.

Y'all can flame me in the comments if you want...

Any man who can't take a little literary competition from the babes is a wimp indeed. IMHO.

Aw, shucks, Donnah!

I can't badmouth you for a week, now.

Pffft...at least a couple days.

I had the same reaction when I read that piece of crap post. Group blogging is "becoming the norm"?

How in the world did he reach this idiotic conclusion? Did he research his own blogroll?

And video-blogging? Puh-lease! That's all we need, is a lot of people who might be decent writers boring the crap out of us standing in front of a camera and reading their posts.

I hadn't seen Sensing's update until now - I hope he didn't break a hip backpedaling.

PS: Meant to say "y'all" at the end of that comment.

Baron- I saw that! It was very good and thanks for the special mention and for not calling me "crusty." ;)

Ritchie- if you check your sitemeter, sure I've been coming over to read. Seems to be a lot of free-form jazz going on. How about a tight rock number?

John- It demoralized me for a day, then I remembered that despite my being well-acquainted with his site, after all these years I'd never blogrolled him...because I thought he was full of himself. So, if a jerk acts like a jerk, I shouldn't be surprised. It's what they do.
