The ACLU's going to be on anything smoking:
“In God We Trust” will be the official motto of Florida if Gov. Jeb Bush signs a bill passed unanimously Thursday by the Senate. You can't provoke the modern-day grand inquisitors and not expect a secular auto-da-fe.The measure (HB 1145) had earlier passed the House.
“In God We Trust” has been considered an unofficial, or customary motto of the state for years, but isn’t in statute.
Unless you've got better lawyers.
Posted by floridacracker at May 5, 2006 10:19 AMWell, I'm wholly against it, but it ain't federally Unconstitutional, as it's a state initiative.
What's a matter with the old motto?
"All the nuts roll down to Florida."
Descriptive, folksy. Leave well enough alone, Jeb.

Posted by: Mr. Bingley at May 5, 2006 02:09 PMGood legislative session so far this year. I also liked the pro-gun bills passed.
Posted by: Fred at May 5, 2006 06:02 PMMan, every time I talk good about them a$$holes, they go do sumthin' stoopid like this.
Posted by: tree hugging sister at May 5, 2006 06:07 PMquite apropos, I believe. When is the last time
somebody was concerned....
I like it also. It's of the same order of humor as listening to carpetbaggers complain about the
traffic.
"Better lawyers"??? Is that an oxymoron?
What's the difference between a flounder and lawyer?
One's a scum-sucking bottom-dweller--the other's a fish.
