Wednesday's Duane Allman Pic

No, it's not anti-fans; it's just Duane on the cover of a German magazine.
Wail on, Skydog!

UPDATE:
Yo sends us a link to Derek and the Dominos' debut on the Johnny Cash show. Thanks, Yo.

This is pretty awesome.

It boggles the mind trying to imagine what this would've sounded like had Duane been present.

yeah..I have wondered also about historical events...from what I rememeber, Eric Clapton did
the studio collaberation..but, how do I say this..

I'll say it like this; The album that Duane was
'featured' on, it was almost hush hush. According to Duane's own words, he had never met Clapton until the meeting at Criteria, and it blew his mind that EC even knew about him. He spoke of it in an interview with a Macon radio jock.

It would have been cool to see something like EC on SNL, with a walk on guest..Duane Allman. DA was such a heretic though..who knows.

I am waiting for the life story movie..hopefully the title will be "Skydog"..but it would probably be "The Midnight Rider, The story of Gregg Allman's brother..Duane"

Thanks Donnah.

I wanna know who has the copyrights to the Fillmore footage of them on the nights they used for the album. The footage we have available is of
every note but.

I tell you who I'd like to interview. The guy who was driving the truck that Duane swerved to avoid. I'll bet he's drank a few lonesome beers.

What's the date on that German
magazine? Looks like a cold weather photo; either that or Duane's sporting a very early D & D look.

I've been looking around and can't find it right at hand. It's a German issue of British magazine that started publishing in 1970 and went defunct in the early 90's.

boy howdy! thank you, Yo!

i'll tell you what would have happened if duane had been there to pick a little. he'd have gotten spanked by carl perkins too!

gah, now THAT was some picking. take that, anglo-man.

can't beat old tennessee for music.

True Richard, Perkins was pretty nasty in this performace. He kind of bitch-slapped Clapton on the guitar I'd even say. But I'd have to imagine Duane would have been playing bottleneck. He'd be doing more slashing and burning, and less picking. I'm pretty sure that playing in front of three monsters, on national tv, Duane would've done what he did best. Just my imagination though, who knows. . .

Carl never got the fame his talent deserved. I don't blame him for taking Clapton down a peg.
Duane always knew there were complete unknowns out there who were better than him.

heh....bitch slap.

i would say it's more 30 years of being a professional by that point.

you know, in the old days, guys played more than just "rock". go, cat, go!

duane would have comped with taste and done his tweleve bars with verve.

after all, he's born in tennessee. :)

damn...richard stole my thunder....DA WAS a Volunteer, but he is affectionately remembered as a cracker...all because of Daytona.

Duane Allman, albeit his music might have been a
little bit too 'in-your-face' for the folks who tuned in to the Johnny Cash show, would probably
have been more demure than you think. He played second fiddle quite well from his Muscle Shoals days.

We ALL know how he was with the band, tho...he was in charge, no doubt. GAWD no wonder Dickey came up with the tunes he did, anything less was just..something less.

I mean, it was obvious to me that the song EC and
the Dominoes was chosen for its 'twangy' feel (the twangiest Clapton song I know) I don't remember ANY twangy tunes comin out of Macon back then.

damn again...

speaking of spankers and spankees, I still run into someone who is in denial about who spanked who in the Layla sessions, so although Carl just sauntered out there and pulled Clapton's pants down...it wasn't that hard to do in my opinion. It wasn't me that was wrote "Clapton is God" on the subway wall.
