They've found the alligator that killed Yovy Jimenez:
The alligator that killed a woman near a canal in Sunrise has been captured, investigators believe.''We captured a gator that had two arms in its belly,'' said Dani Moschella, spokeswoman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. ``We believe that this is the alligator involved in the attack.''
The 9-foot-6-inch male alligator was captured around 9 a.m. under the same bridge where 28-year-old Yovy Suarez Jimenez's dismembered body was found floating in a Sunrise canal Wednesday afternoon.
You could try teaching a 9-foot-6-inch male alligator about peaceful co-existence, but it'd probably be a very short class.
UPDATE:
Here's the video of the capture of the alligator. The reporter actually said that maybe Yovy Jimenez was attacked because she was feeding the gator. A jogger. Do you bring food when you go out to jog? A bucket of extra-crispy, maybe? She was feeding the alligator all right: she was feeding it her arms.
He made that disgraceful statement after already having said that inside the gator's stomach there was found a plastic bag, a raccoon, a turtle shell, and two arms. He still put it out there that she had done something to cause her own attack -- besides the fact that it was a 9-foot-6-inch alligator and she was made of meat, of course.

o hell yes it would be a short class... If I was teaching it, it would be about a three minute lesson.
It was just on TV, we need to open season the gator population for a while. A five year 'have at it', should take care of them.

Posted by: tfhr at May 13, 2006 03:33 PMMy sister said that if she's ever arrested for killing a gator on her land, when you see her picture in the Ft. Myers News-Press, she won't be hanging her head.
Posted by: Donnah at May 13, 2006 05:45 PMBless his heart, my Dad (rip) couldn't wait for the chance to use his Weatherby we got him for Christmas one year..(7mm) my neice and a couple of the other g-kids were skiing, and reported to Grandpa that a gator was in the lake,(Lk. Howard)he hit it at about 250 yds (a Leopuld scope) first shot..and it almost decapitated it.
I remember Dick Pope (rip) came over with the game wardens vouching for property owners rights in regards to the gator population..I came over because we were gonna have a little problem putting my Dad in the pokey (never happened)
There is no public access to our lake, and I promise you there are no gators.
What a lot of people don't realize is when a gator is laying there 'sunning' he (or she) is like a cocked hammer on a pistola. If this girl
didn't see him and she ran anywhere upwards of six feet near him..it was all over. They are nearly as fast as an alligator snapper. They love things that try to run by them. I'd rather be shark-bit myself.
Let's just say if I see anything predatory on my property (or threatening those I love not on my property), I'm gonna have myself a new stuffed fixture in the house. GET REAL - when animals start hunting people we need to realize that people have every bit as much right to live on Earth as any animal. They need to be controlled. Period. Happy Mother's Day all!!!
