I'm in the middle of both an upgrade on this blog and learning the ropes of another system for a different project. This basically means I'm bugging Mr. Cracker to the prescribed limit then breaking out the credit card.
Then I go lay down in a cool, dark place.
I can relate very well to the last thing. Fair-thee-well on the rest of it...I wonder sometimes if their are two of you.
Posted by: csason at May 21, 2006 07:57 PMWhat new system are you going to? Just curious.
Hope all goes well.
Gah. This one is being upgraded to MT 3.2 first off. Then I'll cry as I try to make the sidebar go throughout. Then I'll run away and hide.
Do you know back in December and January I contacted 3 different web design places and none of them got back to me. Business must be good.
I uploaded WP just to try it out. We spent all afternoon just trying to get a new theme loaded in. That's with the help desk and MC. I told MC if I wanted attitude I could just open another ticket with the help desk.
I have a long list of plans and I'm taking them one at a time so I don't melt down underneath them. So far, most of my plans involve my credit card. The little niggling gripe that runs like a thread throughout is the fact that MC is an executive in a computer company and is a genius who's set up internet telecommunication stuff in Third World shitholes all over the globe, but this blog stuff, man, this is just too tough for him. ;) Like the jet fighter pilot who tells his wife he can't work the washing machine. This blog is on a hosting company instead of on one of MC's several servers in the next room because I can open a ticket if I have to.

Donnah,
WordPress is very friendly. I'm not familiar with MT, but I've used WP, Xoops, e107 and several others. Those three are the easiest to use, IMHO. If I can help, let me know.
Posted by: Trambo at May 21, 2006 10:57 PMI'm in MC's world..... All I can say is good luck.
Posted by: Gmac at May 21, 2006 11:57 PMI love, love, love WordPress. Can't say enough good things about it, and if you decide to go in that direction and have any questions, don't hesitate to email. Not an expert, but I have been using it for a couple of years now.
Leanne at Intricate Art [http://www.intricateart.com/blog/] does blog design... some of her stuff is truly inspired. She's nice, and returns emails. :D
Posted by: pam at May 22, 2006 07:39 AMThis upgrade is complete. I've opened a new blog under this new version and am hacking up the templates merrily. I'll switch them out when I'm done.
Though I'm also playing around with Word Press, I don't know what if anything I'll do with it right now. I just dropped on a bundle on the MT people, so I'll not be switching out anytime soon.
Thanks for all y'all's good wishes. I'll be in the back chopping up a CSS file.
Posted by: Donnah at May 22, 2006 09:23 AMI upgraded the Swilling to 3.2 when it came out, and I'd love to improve the looks but I haven't a clue about CSS and stylesheets and all that stuff.
Posted by: Mr. Bingley at May 23, 2006 12:51 PMI could work with 2.6, but I'm a bit overwhelmed with this new stuff.
