Home Defense News Brief

It's amazing how one kid was able to protect his entire family against a violent and determined intruder merely by filling him full of lead:

With a man breaking through the front door, a Hollywood 15-year-old loaded his father's gun, waited for the intruder to come in and shot him, police said.

Keil Jumper, 22, who police said has a long rap sheet, was later found bleeding in an area between two houses. Police said Jumper was seriously injured but his injuries didn't appear life threatening.

The incident happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday, when Jumper attempted to break down the front door, then picked up a bicycle to smash the window, police said. The sounds terrified a family of eight to 10 people who were asleep in the home, which is on South 61st Avenue in Hollywood, police said.

Police said the teenager is unlikely to be charged in the case. But they said Jumper, who was shot several times, will be -- once he's discharged from Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.

Dad needs to buy the kid a bigger gun and a year's membership at the local range as reward.

8-10 people in the house? I guess that when you get that many living under one roof it would be tough to keep an accurate account. Personally, I wouldn't be able to make it through the morning bathroom line!

I thought he needed a bigger calibre too, but was so pleased with his having the balls to load and wait while surrounded by hysterical people, that I was willing to let that slide. :)

Now that's what I love about living in Florida. There's all kind of heat, some of it you can pack yourself. There may be more to the story, but I'm cool with someone shooting anyone (non-law enforcement) who's breaking into their home.

yeah something sounds kinda weird with the '8-10 people' and somebody is breaking down the door ??

Who knows..I lived in Homestead and weird stuff happened all the time. People getting killed for 35 bucks..vice mayors getting busted with 35,000 lbs of weed ..routine.
