Eat A Peach Deluxe

There's been a second remastering from the original done for the Allman Brothers' Eat A Peach. This release also has a second disc that features the complete performance of their June 27, 1971 Fillmore East concert. I know it's only been out a few days, but has anyone heard this one yet?

The way the changes in sound technology keep bringing us ever more sharper and clearer versions of EAP, pretty soon we'll be able to hear the angels that were flapping their wings in that studio.

Thanks for reminding me to pick it up this weekend. The Allman's label really should put out more Duane-era shows. And while we're at it, you think we'll ever get to see the Atlanta pop video footage??

Posted by: YO at May 27, 2006 02:08 AM

YO, I've added a vid down at the Duane Pic post.

Damn it to hell, don't mention that Atlanta Pop video. Let's just wait a few more decades.

Donnah,

Since we're on the subject of YouTube and all things Allman, have you seen this video?? This performance blew me away. Gregg should've done an all solo, acoustic album during this period. It would've been a classic

What a fantastic video, YO. Gregg sounded great and played beautifully.

hmm, hmm, hmm. so what's the deal on the show that's on the second disc? oh, my! oh my!

Posted by: richard at May 27, 2006 02:54 AM

Mm-hmm. The only song from that show on the original EAP was "One Way Out." This one has the whole deal.

Posted by: Donnah at May 27, 2006 02:59 AM

cool, my fellow night owl.

so is that the show the sunday after "the" closing the fillmore shows? the one that was broadcast on noo yawk radio?

good lord. someone email marion and tell him the 26th is on the disc.

oh, that's mean of me, innit? :)

This is the final show on Sunday, not the legendary Saturday one.
LMAO@your cruelty.

(bowing to you, noble one. thought you'd have some insight into the deliciousness of my taunt)

hey, you notice that the duane forum really went to shit without a few key peeps or what?

i went and re-read rowland's piece about the shows. good to know some little grey cells are left.

you think that's why they called it dope?

Posted by: richard at May 27, 2006 03:49 AM

ok, duane-iac....what's the quality of the traded versions of the 27th going to be compared to the new disc???

Posted by: richard at May 27, 2006 03:53 AM

Ritchie, I can only imagine that the quality of the new disc is going to be a vast improvement over the traded show. YO's getting a copy this weekend, so hopefully he'll give us the full run-down.

The forum has fluxuations, the same as anything else, I reckon. You know I'm still missing the old board.

whoo hooo re: cd

boo hoo re: olde forum

I haven't gotten it yet, but the album's on Itunes already. You can hear snippets there. While nothing sounds revelatory on the original Eat a Peach, the final Fillmore show sounds pretty spectacular, at least better than the copy I've got. Unfortunately, I've heard it doesn't include Bill Graham's introduction at the beginning - that would've been nice. So, if you've got iTunes, give them a listen.

Donnah, my copy of the famous (old) Fillmore East album does have TWO tracks from the 27th of June, they are No Way Out and Midnight Rider.

This remastered EAP would make a nice Father's Day present ;)

scott....fillmore east has what? you got the fillmore concerts or something?

and thanks for the desktop background with duane. wonder if you could do that with a darker background? :)

I'm going to have to stop by Sunburst Records on the way home and either pick up a copy or order one.
Nice video to, Greg did have his moments. TY YO

Great album, not on a par with "Fillmore East" then they did not have Tom Dowd master it.

Read a great story in "Guitar Player" magazine on how Duane & Dickey brought Greg his first Hammond organ since they didn't want 3 guitar players in the band.

well I posted on this when I was in Lake Park..but
I guess it got lost, along with the usual weekend junket/family reunion losses...heh

thanks Donnah

I really needed the Laid Back album at the time...this reminds me of that when I see Gregg
this new stuff is gonna be good

I have the "Deluxe Edition" 2-disc CD of "Live at Fillmore East". It has No Way Out and Midnight Rider recorded June 27 at the Fillmore. Follow?
