Fraud Alert

The VA data-theft story just gets worse:

Personal information on 26.5 million veterans that was stolen from a Veterans Affairs employee this month not only included Social Security numbers and birthdates but in many cases phone numbers and addresses, internal documents show.

A Florida commenter at Lucianne left a useful tip:

For any vets to whom this applies, a call to Trans Union at 800-680-7289 will add an Initial Fraud Alert on your credit report that will advise any credit grantors to contact you before issuing credit. Trans Union will also notify the other two major credit bureaus, EquiFax and Experion.

The whole process is done with keypad entries and takes about two minutes.

I called. It's the first thing the recording asks you about, so I imagine they've been inundated with the same request.

what a mess..

I have a friend who, in the last year has..divorced, fallen in love, and convinced the Marine Corp ( his beloved Ko-ar ) to allow him to go *train* youngins over at Camp Fallujah..now it seems his 5 Jun departure is messed up because of this guy.....HOW I don't know...

Geez...25 years of oorah wasn't quite enough...hmm gotta wonder bout some folks hee hee

Ah, hell. I used hotels.com once.

That flickr thing is a pain. I sweated and loaded up 170-something pics from our Wednesdays, then not only does the badge not work on my main pain, but its "random photo generation" consists of exactly one page of about 10. Since they put the new engine in my blog, my comments have been running slow. Figured I'd give people who actually commented here something to look at.

about DA, though.. I wonder if he had lived, been a HUGE Jimmah supporter (and subsequent Willy fan)
