Burn In Hell, Zarqawi

Some people need a couple of five-hundred pound bombs on their head. A bloody man has met a bloody end:

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Al Qaeda in Iraq leader who led a brutal insurgency that included homicide bombings, kidnappings and beheadings, was killed in an airstrike on a building north of Baghdad, U.S. and Iraqi officials announced Thursday.

Officials said the terror leader's identity was confirmed by fingerprints, facial recognition and known scars.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki said Zarqawi was killed along with seven aides Wednesday evening at around 6:15 p.m. local time in a bombing raid on a building in a remote area 30 miles northeast of Baghdad in Diyala province.

Loud applause broke out at a press conference in Baghdad as Al-Maliki, flanked by U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad and U.S. Gen. George Casey, the top commander in Iraq, announced that "Zarqawi was terminated."

Forever, my happiest memory of that maniac will be his threatening to kill any Iraqi that voted, then watching the people walk, roll, and crawl to the voting stations in defiance.

Tim Blair is collecting reactions to Zarqawi's "de-aliving," and from INDC Journal, here are a couple from Iraq:

*"A reserved Sunni intellectual who is quite particular in the language he uses summed up the feeling surrounding al Zarqawi’s death: 'Goddamn that motherfucker for what he has done to Iraq.'"

*"A Shia friend may have said it best, 'Zarqawi would not listen to ballots, today there is no mistaking that he listened to the bombs.'”

The pilot hit the target the first time. They asked him if wanted to re-engage.
He dropped another 500-pounder.

"Burn in Hell, Zarqawi"

The best heading for this story I've seen.

Fox had its "Live Breaking News" going around 3ish AM with the announcement of his death.
Best news to crank up a morning I've had in a long time. Grats to all who participated in the intel and action.
