Though MTV launched towards the end of 1981, though not all places got it at the same time. The music scene exploded in 1982 with new styles of music becoming popular. More performers began making videos (some quite ambitious) and you'll find some good ones here. You'll also find some that are ludicrous, and others that make you want to vomit.

sry, I just had to...
btw..I actually met Joan Jett once..well twice..ok three times.. maybe more, HAW HAW...anyway, bless her heart..she everybit as scummy as she looks in the videos. sry bout that too, not really, but I was just trying to behave while being bad.

here's my list of three A) the best overall
B) the least significant C) the worst
A) Abracadabra - Steve Miller
B) Kids in America - Kim Wilde (bless her heart)
C) Don't you Want me ? - Human (debatable) League
Thanks for the memories..Donnah !
dang..that's two people on here I've met..George Benson did a show at U of F back years ago, somehow I managed to wind up backstage, it was on the courtyard...he is a good picker.
Posted by: csason at June 9, 2006 09:57 AMI dinnae wish to fence thee in, lass. Appreciate the effort, I do. Popular music went off the rails by 1979 and has never recovered. It has become the Ted Kennedy of recorded music. (or so says I. Your mileage may vary.)
I would hope people remember these things. These shorts were EVERYWHERE you turned around before Empty Vee became the clearinghouse/kingmaker/payola pandering piffle provider of our hallowed '80's.
(I'll sit down now.) :)
Did I miss Nazareth's "Holiday"? Bwaa ha ha!
Posted by: richard at June 9, 2006 01:38 PMI remember enjoying the Human League video. I thought the girls looked cool, which is how they ended up in the band in the first place.
