Videos: Billboard 1983

The following are videos from Billboard's Hot 100 for 1983, and also some others that were on heavy rotation on MTV. There were some pleasant finds -- I've not even heard, much less seen, the Kinks' "Come Dancing" since that time. I had my Scandal EP, and have been looking for this video for quite a while; glad it's finally popped up. The singer, Patty Smyth, probably the cutest Punk girl ever, went on to marry tennis ace John McEnroe and seems to be OK with that.

Owen- You know, for all the bashing they get, I love their song "Wishing." Follow the guitar all the way through. That boy is doing some pretty things. The other three guys were two brothers and a co-worker on a lark, but Paul Reynolds, hired through an ad, proved to be the key to their success. When he left, it was the end of the band. I like the lyrics too. A really nice song.

Patty Smyth- she went from having one of the coolest videos to having one of the dumbest ones with that Warrior deal. She's said that was a big mistake. If you have Roseanne Cash's "King's Record Shop," she's singing backup there, and Roseanne's voice needs all the help it can get.

It was nice seeing the Kinks again. I wish there was film of that time Ray and Dave Davies stabbed each other over french fries.

Glad you're enjoying the vids, Kathy.

Oh. My. God. That's the year I graduated. That's quite a walk down memory lane, especially with the cane...when did I get old? lol

Very cool! Brings back memories of my first duty station, Scott AFB, hanging out in the dayroom in the barracks...good times, good times.
