small typo: Scritti Politi was the name of the band; "Perfect Way" is the name of the tune. Bit of trivia - Miles Davis did a version of this tune later on.

Sledgehammer..ha, what a vid. Very cool. A bunch, that's for sure.

Posted by: csason at July 2, 2006 05:48 PM

Sledgehammer has always been one of my favorite videos.

As the years progress from 1980, you can actually feel the "suck"tion increase through the musical vacuum of video rock taking over.

Posted by: Willard at July 3, 2006 10:38 AM

Well, the whole music scene was changing too. Not for the better, as far as my tastes went.

Good to see the Moody Blues made the list.

And, damn, I forgot how much I liked some of the other folks. Level 42, Mr. Mister, Howard Jones... uh....

OK, not so many.

Posted by: Russ at July 3, 2006 05:46 PM

(Not that I didn't/don't like some of the others, it's just that I remembered most of them.)

Posted by: Russ at July 3, 2006 05:53 PM

(Um... another typo. Baltimora - "Tarzan Boy.")

Posted by: Russ at July 3, 2006 05:54 PM

Yeah, I like the Moody Blues too, Russ.
You can tell I'm not entirely familiar with some of these bands.

Hey, where's Ozzy Osbourne on this list? In 1986, his hair was the frizziest of them all. The Ultimate Sin is that you've omitted him!

Do you have some songs in mind, Vince? All I could come up with was "Crazy Train."
