Whoa, Be Gone

Radio-faced humorist Garrison Keillor shows he's an above-average churl:

Garrison Keillor must have come to Dallas itching for a fight.

He must have come here expecting – even intending – to have his worst expectations confirmed.

There's no other explanation for the deeply insulting remarks he directs in a syndicated opinion column at the fans who went to Highland Park United Methodist Church last week to hear him speak. An adoring crowd could not have been rewarded with more contempt if they had gone to see the Sex Pistols

No, the Sex Pistols had more class. Read how an entertainer 25 years past his sell-by date repaid the graciousness of his hosts.

Classic bitter Keillor. His schtick for a long time is to tell those who deem themselves elite and cannot stand to be around all those bungleheaded normal folks that they are correct in seeing themselves as better and that those around them are actually even worse than they imagined (so that they can feel even better about their feelings because, hey, they were being charitable to their fellow man).

You know. It might take weeks of effort, but I'm pretty sure I can type up an even more nonsensical comment than that one. I believe in me.

Reminds me of the people who continue to blame the entire city of Dallas for President Kennedy's assassination - primarily because they want to believe that a communist who'd lived in the city only a few months was actually a native, right-wing, hate filled bigot typical of the city's inhabitants. After all, it's the South, isn't it?

I believe in you too, Marc. You seem to have a lot of nonsensical potential. Go for it!

Great nonsensical comment, Marc..I have marked my calendar. As for the Keillor stuff, he sounds just like every other Dean-alike...using half-truths and making up stuff about the people (who, incidently, GAVE him his 15 minutes) he supposedly is thinking of as he forges his way through this Nazi way of life we lead.

BTW, the worst 'head-turners' during the Nazi-dragging-off-grandma era were not the 'nazi-sypathizers'. They were your cousins, brothers, husbands, etc... that stood on the platform and showed the way to the shower, sometimes minutes before they were shoved in.

Juan, you have just explained the world to me..

I had no idea I was a right-wing, hate-filled bigot. Let alone that it's because I am from the South. Praise God, Go Gators !

hey Donnah, you think Mrs. Floyd's Mama wanted to make sure NOBODY was gonna call her little girl 'Jackie' ??? Jacquielynn ???? There's only one way to say that !

marc, i understood exactly what you were trying to say.

of course, my medication did run out last week.

Keillor is a mid-west elitest crank who imagines himself a populist crank.

and an asshole.

Is anyone really surprised about this? Keillor was raised by really spooky holy-rollers and the poor baby didn't have television and wasn't allowed to dance. He makes a living talking about 'common-folk'--which sucks you in until you realize that he really despises them. I can't imagine a better venue to tip him over the edge than a church full of normal people who are polite enough to listen to him.

Keillor, simply put, has never been the least bit funny. It's obvious that he's always been trying to "good naturedly" poke fun at his audiences without them realizing it. He's failed miserably.

Great comments.
Yeah, it's a schtick; he hates the rubes.
