Either That Or A Princess Lady

What a nice 'Toys and Games' page the British company Tesco has set up. Leapfrog, dolls, Play-Doh, and Legos. It's clicking on the sub-menu 'Arcade and Gadgets' where things get really interesting, though. Hey, have you ever wondered if your little girl wants to be a pole dancer?:

Tesco has been accused of 'destroying children's innocence' for selling a pole-dancing kit in the toys and games section of its website.

The Tesco Direct site advertises the kit with the words, 'Unleash the sex kitten inside..simply extend the Peekaboo pole inside the tube, slip on the sexy tunes and away you go!

'Soon you'll be flaunting it to the world and earning a fortune in Peekaboo Dance Dollars'.

Some parents are flinging themselves at the customer complaint department in a not terribly seductive manner. Reorganizing the online catalog might be Tesco's best course of action. If the parents sue, it's unlikely they'll be willing to be payed off in Peekaboo Dance Dollars.

UPDATE:
In a fast turnaround from Tesco, both the pole dancing kit and the kiddie strip poker game ("Played with a unique pack of Peekaboo Boy and Girl playing cards, the aim of the game is to win as many Peekaboo chips as possible and turn them into outrageously naughty fun.") have been removed.

What do you know, it's not there anymore. I have to admit, the other gadgets were not terribly child friendly either. Wikid poker, anyone?

I agree with Chris. The whole set of toys are not exactly what one would call "wholesome entertainment". As a parent of five children, it doesn't bother me. My children are not free to peruse the internet without my supervision anyway.

Congrats on your five!

The company spokesman was pretty recalcitrant yesterday, even saying the pole-dancing kit wasn't sexual in nature. All has changed today.

A pole-dancing kit isn't sexual in nature? Who is he kidding? Maybe he thought about his teen-age daughter asking for one for Christmas and it sunk in.
