3 titans in their own ways. Duane's session days with the strat and twin combination, Jerry Jemmot, the man who played the bass on "Memphis Soul Stew" and Wexler, talent evaluator, businessman and friend.

I can't add much to Richard's comment above, other than to reiterate to the Cracker Crew that this is Duane playing for Aretha -- a picture filed under "Rhythm and Blues Royalty" if I ever saw one. A real mind blower, my compliments.

One never hears anything about what Aretha thought of Duane. Did she even notice him or does she not comment on things like that? (I'm not referring to Duane's "Bumcakes" with this statement )

I skimmed her autobiography looking for a mention. My impression was Aretha's mind was pretty much on Aretha -- Duane was an unbilled character in the sweeping saga of her life.

Hi guys. Cool pic.

Which songs did she record with Duane on the strings?

Posted by: scott at November 1, 2006 10:01 PM

The Duane Allman Anthology, Volumes 1 and 2, each feature one Aretha cut: "The Weight" (Vol. 1) and "It Ain't Fair" (Vol. 2).
