Firefighter Dishes It Out, Can't Take It

Tennie Pierce is so upset by his co-workers' prank, only millions can take away the hurt. But just when he could hear the squeak of a wheelbarrow full of cash heading in his direction, the mayor vetoes his windfall after photos of him being equally prankish surfaced:

The mayor has vetoed a $2.7 million settlement the City Council awarded to a black firefighter who said he suffered racial harassment after co-workers served him spaghetti laced with dog food.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said he wanted the council to reconsider its decision in light of photographs recently posted on a Web site showing the firefighter, Tennie Pierce, engaged in hazing pranks.

A Los Angeles radio show has thoughtfully provided the photos for our enjoyment.

Ever had a co-worker unexpectedly show his deeply sensitive side, perhaps after a bad evaluation? Let's hear it.

Even though we'd had a great relationship for years, after I teased my friend about the color scheme of an outfit, she wrote it up as a complaint.

So what did you say about the color of the outfit? Was it aborted-fetus red or something?

I teasingly said that I had a bedspread in that pattern.

That one deserves being called on the carpet by the CEO of the company itself.

... and mandatory sensitivity training.

There was a lady I worked with who had a heart attack. She wasn't in my department, but it was a small building and we got along well. I went over to visit her on my own time and brought along the medicine from her desk. She was in her late sixties with a bad heart, and I said to her she should retire. She came back to work weeks later, and next time she got in trouble, in her defense she threw in that a supervisor had practiced ageism against her. That would be me.

I didn't get into any trouble, and it was something else to file under "people are funny."
It sure changed our relationship though.

I don't have these problems. Everybody loves me.

It's a burden sometimes.
