my grandmothers were all dead before I developed a distinct mind.

If I was of an age that I could recall my grandmothers, and they killed themselves in this way? I would HATE THEM for taking themselves away from my experience by CHOICE rather than dying by nature.

But I'm a westerner who can do math.

It's a pathological society, to be sure. I often think of the gypsies here with their admiration of the art of the con. If you take it in along with your breast milk, it seems very natural.
