Today Cindy Sheehan was both convicted of trespassing at the UN and set free. Other charges against her for the March incident were dropped, including resisting arrest. That's the life of a rock star, I guess.

Yeah, she's lookin' real gaunt after that "hunger strike", ain't she?

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!
Posted by: Wickedpinto at December 11, 2006 03:53 PMPlease don't bring Joe Walsh down into Ms. Sheehan's Mosh Pit.
Posted by: Gordon at December 11, 2006 06:16 PMI just missed watching that lovely display. I work on the 3rd floor of the bldg directly across from the US mission to the UN.
What I caught was that there were about 10 (if that) Code Pink members standing in line, about 2 dozen cops milling about and about a dozen reporters and other media reps. I didn't notice mother Sheehan there (she was probably there), but I did notice some kind of negotiation going on as to who wanted to be arrested, and who was just standing there to fill out photos. I watched long enough to realize who they were and then explain to my coworkers who the group were and to expect this kind of silliness as the weather got warmer. I had a kid in May, so I missed alot of shenanigans.
And one time, when we managed to wrench a window open, a coworker told off a similarly scanty gathering who was annoying us with their use of amplification.
The largest protests I've seen so far in that little plaza were about Darfur and the Falun Gong people (not the same protests). Still I've not seen anything larger than a hundred people. It's just a sidestreet and a small plaza. And usually doesn't have media presence.
Posted by: meep at December 12, 2006 05:21 AMI think Britney is a copycat, but she got the directions mixed up.
1)Wait for cameras
2)Show some skin
3)Get arrested
4)Get called names
BTW, is her hunger strike still ongoing?
